Former FCB Nyasa Big Bullets coach Peter Mponda has agreed to sign a three-year deal with Masters Group of Companies who have reportedly acquired Baka City’s top-flight league status.
Masters Security Group of Companies acting Chief Executive Officer Christophe this, however, last week, he told Times Sport that Mponda was their key target. Njeula was not available to confirm
Mponda confirmed to have agreed a three-year deal in principle.
“Yes, I have accepted a three-year deal with Masters Security. Currently, I am in Karonga for player assessment,” Mponda, who won the TNM Super League championship with Silver in 2024, said.
At Bullets, Mponda won the Airtel Top 8 but he was relieved of his duties following a disappointing run in the league.
Masters have intensified their drive to sign players and a coaching panel following the completion of the acquisition process having agreed to buy Baka’s Super League rights.
The two submitted documents pertaining to the deal to the Football Association of Malawi (Fam).
Fam Club Licensing Manager Clement Kafwafwa said they were working on the paperwork.
Baka finished second in NBS Bank National Division League (NDL) with 41 points from 22 matches to earn Super League promotion.
On the other hand, Masters were disbanded in 2020 but they made history in 2018 when they won the Carlsberg Cup following a 5-4 victory over Mighty Wanderers 5-4 on post-match penalties at Kamuzu Stadium after a one-all draw in regulation time.
