Africa-Press – Malawi. Malawi National Women’s Football Team’s preparations for a friendly against Morocco have received a major boost with the assured availability of foreign country-based stars.

France-based Rose Kabzere jetted into the country on Tuesday and had her first training session with the team at Mpira Village in Blantyre the following day, while Tabitha Chawinga is expected to arrive from the same European country today.

But Vanessa Chikupira and Bernadetta Mkandawire will fly straight to Morocco from Kazakhstan.

The Scorchers started camp training at Mpira Village in Blantyre on Monday and will line up against the North Africans on Thursday next week in Casablanca.

Malawi also faced Zambia in February before playing against South Africa twice in April.

Coach Lovemore Fazili is using the matches to prepare for the last 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola in October.

Fazili said his players are responding well.

“Everything is just okay and the players are responding well. All the local players that we called into camp reported, except Asimenye Simwaka who is outside the country for other duties. But she will join us on Friday [today].

“The friendly match against Morocco will give us a good test for the Angola match and we are very hopeful that by the time will be playing the qualifier, we will have prepared well and there will not be excuses,” he said.

Malawi are missing Chimwemwe Madise and Temwa Chawinga who have engagements with their respective clubs during the period.

The Scorchers are expected to leave for Morocco on Monday.
