ON TOP OF SCORING CHART—KhumaloMalawi Women’s National Football Team duo Deborah Henry and Ireen Khumalo have emerged as joint-top goal-scorers, with two others, at the just ended Cosafa Women’s Championship in South Africa.
The Silver Strikers Ladies pair scored three goals each to share the accolade with Zimbabwe’s Rutendo Makore and Makhotso Moalosi of Lesotho.
Henry scored a hat-trick when the Scorchers thrashed Lesotho 8-1 whereas Khumalo scored a brace in that match.
Khumalo was also on the scoresheet when her narrow strike helped the Scorchers beat Angola 1-0.
In other individual awards, Namibia’s Melissa Matheus won the Golden Glove while her teammate Zenatha Coleman was named Player of the Tournament.

Meanwhile, Namibia came from behind to win their first-ever Cosafa Women’s Championship title with a 2-1 victory over seven-time winners South Africa in the final at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane on Sunday.
According to Cosafa website, the hosts struck first through Nthabiseng Majiya in the opening half, but Muhinatjo Hanavi and Memory Ngonda found the net for Namibia, their winner coming in the first half of extra time.
