Africa-Press – Malawi. Silver Strikers will face Castle Lager Premier Soccer League side Caps United in an international friendly match at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe this coming Sunday.
The Central Bankers announced the fixture on their official Facebook page yesterday.
In an interview, Silver Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Patrick Chimimba said the match would be a good opportunity for the technical panel to assess players.
“We accepted to play the match as it will help us assess some players. It is a good opportunity for us to play an international match,” Chimimba said.
He said there was a possibility of playing another match against Caps next week at the same venue.

“We are looking at the possibility of playing another match on Wednesday. We are still finalising logistics on the second match,” he said.
Chimimba said a 50-member Caps delegation is expected to arrive in the country for pre-season activities this evening.
The last time Silver met Caps was in 2014 but they lost 2-0 at the same venue.
The Green Machine were also scheduled to play against Mighty Wanderers.

Wanderers CEO Panganeni Ndovi was not readily available for his comment yesterday.
Caps have two Flames players namely striker Chawanangwa Kaonga and midfielder Lloyd Njaliwa.
Apart from Kaonga and Njaliwa, Caps have former Flames midfielder Joseph Kamwendo, who is part of the team’s technical panel setup.
Kamwendo played for Caps in 2005 and etched his name in the history books of Zimbabwean football when became the first foreigner to win the player of the season award.
Meanwhile, Blue Eagles have turned down Caps United’s request to play a friendly international match.
Eagles CEO Mohamad Ali said they made the decision to give players ample time to rest during the off-season break.
“Our players are on holiday now. The players are tired after a prolonged season,” he said.
Caps last toured Malawi in 2014, when they participated in the Zambezi Cup.
