Africa-Press – Malawi. Malomo Trading Center in Ntchisi North will soon have modern football min stadium as one way of improving sports development and talent identification in the area.

Minister of Youth and Sports, Richard Chimwendo Banda made the promise during the Prize presentation of MK8 million Arnold Kadzanja League on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Mbomba Secondary School Ground in Ntchisi North Constituency.

Chimwendo said lauded Kadzanja on sports development to the highest level that helps in nurturing talent for Super League and national teams. The minister therefore appealed to other legislators and stakeholders to emulate on Kadzanja’s initiative in their areas.

“For the youth to enjoy the sports they require good facilities hence plans are already there to construct a min stadium at Malomo Trading Center. The site is already a Community Development Center hence the issue of the Stadium won’t be a major problem. We will just push with our friends at Ministry of Local Government”, assures Chimwendo.

Over 100 Football and Netball teams participated in the league which was launched on September 31, 2021 and was concluded in May this year. Kadzanja therefore hailed sports committee league for successful tourney.

“I am very happy that the league has gone on well,and let me hail the Committee for their effort to make this done. Indeed the Stadium is needed in Malomo so that the youth enjoy the sports when playing hence let me plead with government to consider the area”, says joyfully Kadzanja.

MK5 million of the MK8 million went to prizes while the other MK3 million was used for administration. In the finals, Malambo FC defeated Sopani Sparrows FC 5-4 on post match penalties after regulation time ended nil nil.

They went away with MK1 million and Trophy, second placed Sopani Sparrows went home with MK500,000,third place Mpalo FC received K300,000 and Chakwanuleka FC went home with MK200,000 for finishing fourth.

In individual awards, Chisomo Nkhosa of Malambo FC received MK50,000 for Golden boot accolade with 42 goals while Patrick George of Sparrows FC was given MK50,000 for emerging man of the match.

In Netball,Malambo sisters defeated Kandale 17-6 to be champions and received MK400,000, Kandale Sisters 2nd placed went home with MK300,000,third placed Mwinama Sisters received MK200,000 and Malomo Queens got MK100,000.

Individual awards included Josephine Mvula best player received MK30,000,Dorothy Chingwalu best shooter MK30,000,Lenia Ndagwa MK30,000 for being voted the most disciplined player.
