Africa-Press – Malawi. Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has opened the nominations process ahead of the elective general assembly slated for next month. Sulom will elect office bearers on February 25 at a venue to be announced. The nomination process started on Friday and will run up until February 17 2023. All the positions are up for grabs.

The league governing body released a statement Sunday asking clubs to nominate the candidates, who have not been found with a criminal offence during the previous seven years, must have been in active football association for a period of five years and be above 24 years.

“Any nomination by an affiliate of Sulom, which is entitled to vote at annual general meeting, shall be proposed by one affiliate and each nomination shall be signed by the chairperson and general secretary/CEO affiliate proposing,” the statement reads.

In addition, each affiliate shall not nominate one candidate per position. The battle for Sulom presidency is likely to be between incumbent Tiya Somba Banda and Nyasa Big Bullets Vice President Fleetwood Haiya. However, both Somba- Banda and Haiya are playing hide and seek game, as they are contest or not.

Incumbent Sulom Vice President Gilbert Mitawa has already confirmed that he is seeking re-election whereas General Secretary Williams Banda is yet to decide.

Malinda Chinyama and Allie Mwachande are competing for the position of treasurer. Blue Eagles Vice General Secretary Gome Mchawi is contesting for the post of legal adviser.

Civil Service General Secretary Ronald Chiwaula, Mike Chamayere, Charles Manyungwa and Fadweck Matemba have shown interest in contesting as committee members.
