Africa-Press – Malawi. There was drama at Nsungwi, Area 25, the most busiest trading centre in Lilongwe where unknown suspect jumped out from a small vehicle climbing the walls of Kalambo primary school in Area 25 and is nowhere to be seen.
The incident took place during a day broad light on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at around 20 minutes past 10. Details of the offence committed by the escapee are still sketchy as the hunt of the suspect is still on.
This reporter saw it by himself that a small vehicle registration number BW 3441 believed to hace carried Police CID officers arrived at Nsungwi Trading Centre with people fighting in the vehicle.
It is believed that the small vehicle was hit on its left hand side and police officers who were in that vehicle were chasing the vehicle wanted to arrest the offender and in the process it was being blocked by a lorry with call boys at Msungwi Rank.
Angry people joined by Nsungwi Rank members started beating up one suspected to be a police officer for reasons which are not clear, the officer had to fall down and in the process lost control of his pistol, an unknown individual picked it up.
The suspect while in handcuffs took advantage of the situation, jumped out of the vehicle, climbing up the wall of Kalambo primary school and ran away. As this was happening, one man, identified by his name, King of Msungwi Rank was handcuffed while trying to take up pictures of the scene.
This again increased tempers, angry Nsungwi Rank members in their large number carrying stones followed up to Nsungwi police unit but lucky enough, the man was found not handcuffed. Kanengo police officials are yet to comment on the matter.
