Africa-Press – Malawi. Three children from one family has drowned while their young brother is still missing in construction dam for a Company which is doing the Nsanje-Marka M1 road.
Zalakoma said Samuel Phinifolo Tembo who is a father to the children reported to Police on March 3, 2022 that his three children were found floating on a dam.
Zalakoma said according to the report, on the said date in the morning the reporter and his wife left home for business and garden respectively leaving their children at the house in good health.
At about 12: 00 noon was reportedly back home and found four children not present. Communities thought that the children were out for playing. Zalakoma said at about 15:05 hours, received a message from friend about the death of there two children at the dam created by CR20 company which is constructing Nsanje-Marka road.
The matter was reported to Nsanje Police through Marka Police Unit that the scene was immediately visited. It was observed that the four children went to the dam for washing and is believed that whilst washing clothes started bathing which resulted to drowning instantly.
Meanwhile three dead bodies have been discovered and efforts are under way to trace the fourth child who is feared dead. Postmortem conducted to the three dead bodies has revealed that death was due to suffocation.
Nsanje Police spokesperson said as search for the missing child is still under way. Police in the district are reminding people not to allow their children to go to the places where Construction companies are working to avoid incidences of such kind. All the children aged 15 yrs,11 yrs,8yrs and 5yrs were coming from Thikiti Village, Traditional Authority (T.A) Ndamera in the District.
