As Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Decentralisation Joseph Mwanamvekha presents the 2026-27 national budget to Parliament in Lilongwe today, all sectors are pregnant with expectations on the issue of economic turnaround.
This far, Mwanamvekha has given enough hints on what lies ahead in the budget.
Apparently, the budget will hang on a delicate balance of reality and pressure, necessitating sacrificial pain the minister has often mentioned.
According to Mwanamvekha, the budget will lean towards development, deviating from consumption, which has long been the fiscal norm.
