Why Malawians must vote in large numbers in 2025?

Africa-Press – Malawi. It’s important to register and vote in the coming 2025 tripartite election. Voting is important because firstly, it gives Malawians a say on important issues that affect them – from roads and the Agricultural Inputs Program (AIP) to education and corruption, to forex and employment.

Secondly, It gives Malawians the choice to vote for their local and national representatives, if they don’t vote, other people get to choose who represents them.

Unfortunately, some people choose not to take part in the voting process for some reasons. In a State built on democratic principles, citizens are allowed to participate in the political process. One of the most important types of such participation is the possibility of forming elected public authorities.

However, today the topic of citizens’ refusal to participate in the political life of society is becoming more and more relevant. This hurts the formation of civil society structures and the effectiveness of elected authorities.

For one reason or another, the increasing number of people who refuse to participate in the elections of authorities raises the problem of the legitimacy of the chosen government. Some Malawians, for example, are opting to stay away from voting in the 2025 Presidential election as a way of demonstrating their dissatisfaction with the way Tonse Alliance Government is conducting itself.

There’s a lot of inefficiency, inexperience, indecisiveness, wrong appointments of people in wrong positions and bad planning on many things. All the same, people must choose a government and put it in power or remove it when it fails to perform. Whenever someone is failing to perform his duties, the next thing is to fire him. There’s no good reason employers will keep a nonperforming employee who is always failing and giving excuses for not doing his job.

Similarly, a farmer is always hopeful and won’t give up on farming just because of a dry spell. He keeps replanting his crop with the hope that he will one day harvest but does not conclude that the next rainy season will be without rain. He remains hopeful even before he gets there, so in the same spirit, let’s keep our hope high and we shouldn’t lose hope. A better government can still be discovered after voting.

Malawians need to vote for a government that is responsible for ensuring the social well-being of all citizens. They need a leadership that performs a crucial duty in establishing laws and policies that can work for the country. The citizens of this country need a government that must ensure that the country’s economy is functioning properly. They don’t deserve a government that is failing the economy because that is suicide. Right now, the economy of Malawi is in very bad shape and needs a complete overhaul immediately.

The people of this country must register and go to the polls in 2025 because they need a government that provides rights to its citizens. The government might take up the responsibility to provide other necessities like housing, money, and clothes to citizens, but it is not legally bound to provide these things. We must work and sweat to get paid, and buy houses, food and clothes for ourselves.

However, Malawians must elect a government in 2025 that will help their different communities in different ways. There are many ways in which government may help different communities.

The people of Malawi must choose a Government in 2025 that will make decisions and allocate resources for roads, drugs in hospitals, infrastructure development, public gathering places, housing, public transit, parks, and recreation. Malawi needs a government that will also adopt policies related to food security and fighting corruption.

In conclusion, Choosing not to go to vote on election day is the biggest mistake Malawians will ever make, just as they did in the 2020 presidential election. They chose a talking government that cannot deliver anything but steal and destroy the economy.

It is as good as quitting business because there are no sales on that day. The voter stands a great chance of losing when the wrong government is chosen. Therefore, Malawians must register in large numbers vote for a good government in 2025, and ignore thieves.
