Africa-Press – Malawi. Malawi Government has disclosed that will writing is not only meant for rich people as regarded by many but for everyone in our societies. This comes amid the continued reported cases of property grabbing in the country.
Speaking to Maravi Post, the Principal in the Ministry of Land, Reyneck Matemba, said land grabbing cases, that are on the increase in the country, can only be dealt with presence of a will.
Matemba also disclosed that the deceased Estates; Wills, inheritance and protection act is very clear on how wealth should be distributed when either a husband or a wife has passed. He has therefore urged people to always have a Will for the benefit of those that are left behind such as children and relatives.
Previous reports revealed that the country’s senior Chiefs have been pocketing huge sums of money in dubious transactions with foreign investors and politicians to acquire land without formally following the right procedures.
Other reports also indicated that marginalized group in the society (women and children) are the immediate victims of land grabbing cases due to weak land laws in Malawi
