Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Rodrigues Government Employees Association (RGEA) plans to organize the Rodrigues Summit 2025 on October 23 and 24 at Independence House in Mont-Lubin. The summit’s theme is “Shaping the Rodriguan Destiny – From Chains to Choice.” This two-day high-level forum will bring together political leaders, historians, jurists, journalists, social activists, workers, and international guests to reflect on Rodrigues’ political status, autonomy, and the question of self-determination.

The summit comes at a time when public debates on Rodrigues within the Republic of Mauritius and beyond have intensified. It will also feature a youth convention titled “Exploring the Political Future – From Chains to Choice,” designed to empower young Rodriguan people to actively contribute to shaping the island’s political and social future.

According to Alain Tolbize, president of the RGEA, the summit aims to equip the Rodriguan people with the knowledge, voice, and options needed to shape their future. He emphasizes that all aspects—from history to economy, law to identity—will be explored to ensure Rodrigues moves forward in an informed and dignified way toward its destiny.

The RGEA believes the summit will provide an essential platform for open, inclusive, and informed dialogue about Rodrigues’ future, leading to clearer understanding for all stakeholders. Tolbize noted that invitations to local, national, and international guests and participants will be sent on Monday, September 15, targeting around 300 attendees for both the summit and the youth convention.

More details about the guests, participants, and activities will be shared by the first week of October 2025.
