Africa-Press – Mauritius. From October 31 to November 2, 2025, the Domaine des Aubineaux—a historic colonial estate located near Curepipe, Mauritius—will host the 15th edition of its Plant Festival. Known for its lush botanical gardens and serene colonial architecture, the Domaine transforms into a vibrant green paradise during this annual event. The festival welcomes gardening enthusiasts, families, and nature lovers alike to explore, learn, and celebrate the island’s botanical heritage.
Over the three-day celebration, the Domaine will feature a wide selection of plants available for purchase, including flowers, fruit trees, and vegetable seedlings. Visitors can benefit from expert advice offered by a dozen passionate local horticulturists. In addition to the plant market, the event will offer a lively food corner serving diverse culinary delights, making it a perfect family outing in the refreshing atmosphere of Forest-Side.
Les Aubineaux Restaurant, housed within the estate, will be open for both lunch and, exceptionally, dinner during the festival, complete with a Happy Hour. The restaurant, famous for its authentic Mauritian cuisine inspired by traditional recipes, provides a charming setting shaded by the veranda and overlooking the estate’s gardens. Families can also enjoy various forms of entertainment for children, including an inflatable castle ensuring hours of fun and activity in a safe environment.
The Domaine des Aubineaux, originally built in 1872, is renowned as one of Mauritius’s most cherished colonial houses. As the first stop along the Tea Route, the estate now serves as a museum and cultural heritage site, surrounded by camphor, ebony, and exotic trees. It has become a multifaceted venue that hosts cultural fairs, weddings, corporate events, and festivals like this one, bringing together history, gastronomy, and greenery.
With free admission and visiting hours from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Plant Festival offers a delightful way to experience the island’s horticultural richness while enjoying the peaceful colonial charm of Domaine des Aubineaux. Whether to discover new plant species, taste local flavors, or simply share a joyful moment in nature, this event promises a warm and colorful experience for all generations.
