Navin Ramgoolam Attends Seychelles Inauguration Ceremony

Africa-Press – Mauritius. Mauritian Prime Minister Dr. Navin Ramgoolam is traveling to the Seychelles on Saturday, October 25, 2025, to attend the official swearing-in ceremony of Dr. Patrick Herminie as the new President of the Republic of Seychelles on Sunday, October 26. The visit comes at the invitation of the Seychellois government. During his stay, Prime Minister Ramgoolam will also hold a bilateral meeting with the Vice President of India, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, who will likewise be present at the ceremony.

This marks Dr. Ramgoolam’s second attendance at a Seychelles presidential inauguration, following his participation in 2006 for James Michel’s swearing-in, at which he was the only foreign head of government invited. His trip reinforces the longstanding friendship and cooperative ties between Mauritius and Seychelles, both active members of the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), committed to promoting regional solidarity, sustainable development, and shared prosperity.

Patrick Herminie, representing the party United Seychelles, won the recent presidential election with 52.7% of the vote, defeating outgoing president Wavel Ramkalawan. The 2025 inauguration is expected to draw international attention, symbolizing renewed cooperation among Indian Ocean nations.
