Africa-Press – Mauritius. In the context of the National Sports Award (NSA) 2025, which will be held on 6 February 2026 at the Côte d’Or National Sports Complex, sponsorship agreements were signed during an official ceremony held today at the seat of the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Port Louis.
A total of 18 sponsoring partners collaborated with the Ministry of Youth and Sports to reflect strong recognition of sporting excellence in the country. The sponsorship for the NSA 2025 ranges from Platinum, amounting to Rs 500000, to Silver (Rs 300,000), including additional cash contributions and gifts in kind.
The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Darmarajen Nagalingum; the Junior Minister of Youth and Sports, Mrs Karen Foo Kune-Bacha; the Chairman of Club Maurice, Mr Giandev Moteea; as well as other officials and stakeholders from the sports community were present on the occasion.
Minister Nagalingum thanked all sponsors for their contribution to the NSA 2025, highlighting that the Award, being organised after two years, acknowledges the outstanding achievements of Mauritian athletes, coaches and teams across a wide range of disciplines.
He further reiterated the Ministry’s ongoing commitment to promote youth engagement in sports, and recalled that several initiatives have recently been re-introduced, namely the holding of the Inter-College Games. Mr Nagalingum expressed confidence that the Awards ceremony will be a success and referred to the forthcoming Sports Bill, which is expected to further consolidate sports development in the country.
Junior Minister Foo Kune-Bacha seized the opportunity to extend her appreciation to the sponsoring partners for their continued support to Mauritian athletes.
A total of 15 award categories will be presented, namely: Sportsman of the Year; Sportswoman of the Year; Sportsman of the Year – Handisport; Sportswoman of the Year – Handisport; Most Outstanding Performance of the Year (a newly introduced category); Junior Sportsman of the Year; Junior Sportswoman of the Year; Most Promising Sportsman of the Year; Most Promising Sportswoman of the Year; Coach of the Year (Individual Sports); Coach of the Year (Team Sports); Team of the Year (Individual Sports); Team of the Year (Team Sports); Sports Photographer of the Year (a returning category); and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which recognises exceptional and long-standing contributions to Mauritian sports.
