PM Ramgoolam Urges HSC Laureates to Serve Nation

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Prime Minister, Dr Navinchandra Ramgoolam appealed to the newly proclaimed laureates of the Higher School Certificate (HSC) Examinations 2025 to return to Mauritius after completing their studies abroad so as to contribute to the country’s development, emphasising the nation’s need for skilled human capital. He called on the laureates to demonstrate patriotism by placing their knowledge at the service of the country.

The Prime Minister made this statement following the signature of the official list of HSC laureates for the Republic of Mauritius, at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis.

Dr Ramgoolam expressed satisfaction with the overall performance of candidates this year, noting that the success rate rose slightly to 78.98 %, compared to 78.88 % in 2024. He congratulated all students who have passed the HSC examinations, while commending especially the hardwork and sacrifices of the laureates, as well as the parents and teachers whose support contributed to their success.

Highlighting institutional achievements, Prime Minister Ramgoolam congratulated the Queen Elizabeth College for emerging as the leading college with 16 laureates, followed by Royal College Curepipe and Royal College Port Louis, each with five laureates.

He also welcomed the diversity of colleges among this year’s laureates, noting that the Lady Sushil Ramgoolam State Secondary School produced one laureate, the Rabindranath Tagore Institute secured three, the Modern College, the James Burty David State Secondary School each recorded one laureate alongside the Saint Esprit College and the Loreto College Quatre with one laureate each.
