271 UCLan graduates receive certificates on their achievement in different programmes

Africa-Press – Mauritius. A total of 271 students received their diploma and degree certificates for having successfully completed their respective programmes at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), yesterday, during a graduation ceremony held at the University of Mauritius, Réduit.

The students graduated in various fields including Bachelor of Laws, Diploma in Law, Masters of Laws in International Business Law, Master of Laws in Financial and Commercial Law, and Master of Science in Project Management

The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Mr Prithvirajsing Roopun; the Vice-Chancellor of UCLan, Mr Graham Baldwin; the Pro- Chancellor and Chairman of Council, University of Mauritius and Chairman of UOM Enterprise Ltd (UOME), Mr Preeaduth Chitamun; the Head of School of Justice of UCLan, Mrs Vivienne Ivins; and other personalities were present.

In his address, President Roopun congratulated the new graduates on their achievement amid the COVID-19 pandemic. “Family, friends, teachers play a pivotal role to shape the academic journey of a student”, he said.

He expressed his thanks to all those who have helped the graduates in their studies along the difficult journey. He also encouraged the graduates to keep the same spirit of resilience and motivation for future challenges.

President Roopun further stressed on continuous upskilling which according to him is vital to keep up with this challenging world. He called upon the graduates to aspire for important life-skills such as problem-solving, and critical thinking, and to keep abreast of global pressing issues.

He wished them good luck in their future endeavours and hoped that the graduates will bring meaningful contribution to the country and society at large.

Mr Chitamun, for his part, congratulated the students on their success adding that graduation is an important milestone in the life of students as the day is evidence of their devotion, commitment and hard work. He wished the graduates a long enriching career and to aspire to greater heights in life.
