27th Session of Intergovernmental Committee of Senior officials and Experts kicks off in Malawi

The 27th Session of the Intergovernmental Committee of Senior officials and Experts (ICSOE), under the theme: Building back better from COVID-19 in Southern Africa: Fostering commodity-based industrialization, manufacturing and regional value-chains, kicked off, today, in Blantyre, Malawi.

The Session, hosted by the government of Malawi, from 13 to 14 October 2021, is being organised by the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Subregional Office for Southern Africa (SRO-SA).

It follows the 26th Session hosted by the government of Lesotho, virtually from 28 to 29 October 2020 under the theme: “Policies and strategies towards effective private sector led growth and job creation in Southern Africa”.

Deliberations during the 27th ICSOE will include an Ad-hoc Expert Group meeting (AEGM) to be held on 12th October 2021 on the theme: “Agriculture value chains, linkages and transformation in Southern Africa: Opportunities from the African Continental Free Trade Area”.
