Africa-Press – Mauritius. The list of the 49 Laureates for the Cambridge Higher School Certificate (HSC) Examinations 2025 was proclaimed, this morning, by the Minister of Education and Human Resource, Dr Mahend Gungapersad, at a press conference held at the New Treasury Building in Port Louis. The overall pass rate for the 2025 HSC cohort stands at 78.98%.
Dr Gungapersad was accompanied by the Senior Chief Executive of the Ministry, Mr Devendre Gopaul, and the Director of the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate, Mr Serge Ng Tat Chung.
Among the laureates, 21 are boys and 22 are girls, while four hail from Rodrigues. Two additional laureates, one girl and one boy, were awarded under the HSC Professional National Scholarships.
The laureates are from the following institutions: Queen Elizabeth College (16), Royal College Curepipe (5), Royal College Port Louis (5), Dr Maurice Curé State College (4), Droopnath Ramphul State College (3), Rabindranath Tagore Secondary School (2), and one each from College du Saint Esprit, Modern College, Dr James Burty David State Secondary School, Loreto College Quatre Bornes, Collège Sainte Marie, Sir Leckraz Teelock State Secondary School, Lady Sushil Ramgoolam State Secondary School and Sodnac State Secondary School.
Of the Rodrigues laureates, three attended Rodrigues College and one studied at Ananias André Le Chou College. The HSC Professional laureates are from Rabindranath Tagore Secondary School and Mahatma Gandhi Secondary School.
Congratulating the laureates on their exceptional academic performance, Dr Gungapersad recalled that attaining such distinction requires remarkable commitment, discipline and perseverance. He encouraged them to become valuable national assets by applying their knowledge and skills for the country’s development, while also serving as role models capable of inspiring future generations.
