In the context of the celebrations of the 55th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Mauritius, a national market fair, ‘La grande Foire de l’Indépendance’, will be held from 03 to 05 March 2023 at Central Flacq, on the parking lot adjacent to the bus terminal.
The Minister of Industrial Development, SMEs and Cooperatives, Mr Soomilduth Bholah, made this announcement at a press conference held, today, at the seat of the Ministry in Port Louis.
Minister Bholah indicated that the objectives of this Fair were to promote the savoir-faire of Mauritian enterprises and give enhanced visibility to local entrepreneurs and locally manufactured products.
He dwelt on the progress and significant achievements that the country had made since Independence, adding that the SME and Cooperatives sector had emerged as key pillars of the Mauritian economy. Speaking of the event, the Minister pointed out that the official launching would be held on 03 March.
It would also comprise: a Rally, in collaboration with the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage, from Lycée Polytechnique Sir Guy Forget to the Trade Fair location site; a Fashion Show conceptualised by the Academy of Design and Innovation; a Cultural Programme; and a Food Fair.
“My Ministry,” he added, “is working in close collaboration with the Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security, the Ministry of Blue Economy, Marine Resources, Fisheries and Shipping, and the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage to make the event a success.
” On this note, Minister Bholah urged the public to participate fully in the Fair and to support local entrepreneurs in their small businesses.
Entrance to the fair will be free of charge. The Fair will be opened to the general public as follows: · Friday 03 and Saturday 04 March 2023 from 9.00 a. m. to 9.00 p. m. · Sunday 05 March 2023 from 9.00 a. m. to 7.00 p. m.
