Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has unveiled the prize money structure for the highly anticipated TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025, set to be hosted in Morocco.
The tournament will feature 24 nations, with a total prize pool of $32 million up for grabs.
According to the official breakdown, the stakes are high for teams aiming for continental glory:
Champion: $7 million
Runner-up: $4 million
Semi-finalists: $2.5 million each
Quarter-finalists: $1.3 million each
Round of 16 participants: $800,000 each
Third in Group: $700,000 each
Fourth in Group: $500,000 each
CAF emphasized that this prize distribution ensures that all 24 participating nations receive financial rewards, reflecting the organization’s commitment to supporting football development across the continent.
The $7 million reward for the eventual champion marks one of the most lucrative AFCON tournaments in recent history, providing an added incentive for teams to showcase their best performances on Africa’s biggest football stage.
