Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius discusses new avenues of cooperation with Minister Gobin

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Ambassador of Japan to Mauritius, Mr Kan Masahiro, met with the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin, today in Port-Louis.

In a statement following the meeting, Ambassador Masahiro underlined that Japan and Mauritius share a longstanding friendship alongside strong bilateral relations which have been reinforced with the realisation of many projects in diverse fields.

He expressed hope for both countries to work closely as well as explore new avenues of cooperation while reiterating his determination to strengthening their bilateral relations.

Among the topics discussed are: Trade and Investment; Maritime Security; and Disaster and Climate Change. The possibility of collaborating even further for the improvement of shipping and port capacity was also discussed during the meeting.

Ambassador Masahiro also spoke of Mauritius’s participation in the forthcoming World Expo 2025 which will be held Osaka, Kansai in Japan. This, he stated, will provide a unique opportunity to showcase the country’s commitment to achieving Sustainable Development Goals.
