To build resilience to flash floods and other unpredictable weather conditions, an additional amount of Rs 3.8 billion have been earmarked in budget 2022-23 to be invested in the National Flood Management Programme (NFMP) to continue with the construction and upgrading drain projects across the country.

It is to be recalled that an unprecedented three-year NFMP to the tune of Rs 11.7 billion was announced in budget 2021-22 as Mauritius needed to build up resilience to flash floods and cyclones.
