Angolan Ambassador discusses bilateral agreements with Minister Gobin

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Ambassador of the Republic of Angola, Mr Sandro Renato Agostinho De Oliveira, paid a courtesy call, this morning in Port Louis, on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin.

The aim was to discuss the status of the bilateral agreements currently in the pipeline between Mauritius and Angola. In a statement following the meeting, the Angolan Ambassador highlighted that the agreements are currently being finalised and are expected to be ready by mid-November 2023 or early next year.

According to him, the progress made so far showcases both countries’ commitment to enhance their partnership and cooperation. Furthermore, he underlined that the potential introduction of TAAG Angola Airlines services in Mauritius, aiming to improve air connectivity between the two countries, was also on the agenda.

The Angolan Ambassador, moreover, reaffirmed both nations’ willingness to deepen their ties and explore new avenues of collaboration. He also seized this opportunity to commend the excellent existing diplomatic relations between Mauritius and Angola.

It is recalled that Mr Sandro Renato Agostinho De Oliveira is the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Angola to Tanzania, Burundi, and Seychelles since July 2019. In 2017, he was promoted to the rank of Ambassador.

Previously, he occupied the posts of Director at the National SADC Office; Third Secretary in the Africa and Middle East Department of the Ministry of External Relations of Angola; Third Secretary at the Regional Integration Department in Angola; and Coordinator of the International Relations Department at the Institute of International Relations in Angola.
