Africa-Press – Mauritius. Arsenal have confirmed the signing of England international Eberechi Eze on a long-term contract, with manager Mikel Arteta praising the forward as a player who will bring “a new dimension” to the team’s attack.
The announcement was made on Saturday ahead of the Gunners’ Premier League clash against newly promoted Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium.
The 27-year-old’s move marks an emotional return to Arsenal, where he began his football journey in the club’s academy before being released as a teenager.
Eze rebuilt his career with Queens Park Rangers, joining in 2016 and eventually breaking through in the 2019/20 season, when he was voted QPR Player of the Year. He went on to join Crystal Palace in 2020, where he established himself as one of the Premier League’s most creative attacking midfielders.
Across five seasons at Selhurst Park, Eze made over 150 appearances, with his defining moment coming in May when he scored the winning goal in Palace’s historic FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.
Speaking at his unveiling as Arsenal’s seventh signing of the summer, Arteta told the club’s website:
“We are absolutely delighted to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game. What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence as a player, is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today.
His journey, his mentality, and his ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club. We all look forward to start working with Eberechi soon.”
Arsenal’s Sporting Director, Andrea Berta, also expressed excitement over the signing:
“We are so pleased to have completed this deal to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. Eberechi is a creative and explosive talent with huge technical quality – also a big-game player, with his experience at international level with England underlining his quality and character.
There has been excellent teamwork across the club to make this transfer happen and we are very confident Eberechi will be an important addition to our squad as we continue to build for success.”
Eze becomes Arsenal’s seventh arrival of the summer transfer window as the North London club continue to strengthen ahead of the new season.
