Artist Incubator Scheme: Workshop on ‘Lyrics and Melody - Song Writing and Musical Arrangement’ organised

Africa-Press – Mauritius. Eleven Artists/Groups selected under the Artist Incubator Scheme, participated on 16 September 2023, in a workshop on ‘Lyrics and Melody – Song Writing and Musical Arrangement’ organised by the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage at the Conservatoire National de Musique François Mitterrand in Quatre Bornes.

The Artist Incubator Scheme is a budgetary measure announced in the Budget 2022-2023. Its main objective is to provide a conducive environment to emerging artists/ groups and empower them through mentorship.

The purpose of the Scheme is to enable emerging artists/ groups to write the lyrics, compose the music, produce a song and market their artistic work under the guidance of Mentors who will be identified and selected by the Ministry of Arts and Cultural Heritage.

Following a Call for Applications launched by the Ministry on 10 February 2023, 27 applications were received under the Scheme. An evaluation exercise was thereafter carried out whereby 11 applications were retained under the Scheme.

The award letters were remitted to the selected applicants during a ceremony held at the Ministry on 23 June 2023. The Ministry has now launched its training/mentorship programmes for the selected applicants in view of accompanying them for the production of their songs.
