Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Italian press dropped a bombshell this week, claiming that Jürgen Klopp has agreed to become the next manager of AS Roma. According to La Stampa, the former Liverpool boss finalized an agreement with the Friedkin-owned club on Sunday, May 18, just hours after Roma’s 3-1 victory over Milan.
The German coach, who currently serves as Head of Global Soccer for the Red Bull group, is reportedly ready to step down from his strategic post to return to coaching. Roma’s owners are said to have offered Klopp a highly ambitious project, including a major transfer window and full support to shape the squad in his image.
While Klopp has spent the past months overseeing Red Bull’s football operations across multiple continents, La Stampa reports that his desire to return to the dugout never faded.
The deal with Roma reportedly includes the signing of at least six new players—three starters, three squad players, and the retention of emerging talent Niccolò Pisilli. The club’s symbolic farewell to Claudio Ranieri, coupled with a powerful video campaign invoking the heart and identity of Roma, is said to have played a part in sealing the deal.
With Klopp’s arrival now seemingly imminent, the Eternal City could soon witness one of the most exciting managerial comebacks in European football.
