Africa-Press – Mauritius. People have named their Sexiest Man Alive for 2023, and it’s none other than McDreamy himself, Patrick Dempsey. The 57-year-old earned the nickname for his best-known role as neurosurgeon Dr Derek Shepherd in the long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
His selection was unveiled during the Tuesday night episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! Dempsey, who takes over the title from Chris Evans, says: “I was completely shocked, and then I started laughing, like, this is a joke, right? I’ve always been the bridesmaid!”
He adds, “It’s nice to have the recognition, and certainly, my ego takes a little bump, but it gives me the platform to use it for something positive.
” Apart from acting, Dempsey is also into motorsports and has competed in events such as 24 Hours of Le Mans. He also founded the Dempsey Center in honour of his late mother to support cancer patients and their loved ones, according to People.
The A-lister has been married to wife Jillian Fink, 57, for 24 years and shares three children with her Talula, 21, and twins Sullivan and Darby, 16. On how his children will react to his new title, Dempsey says they’re “just going to make fun of me and pick on me and figure out every reason why I shouldn’t be.
Which is good; they keep me young”. Dempsey is poised to make his next on-screen appearance as the Italian race car driver Piero Taruffi in the upcoming film Ferrari, scheduled for release in December.
According to the Associated Press, the film has obtained a waiver, allowing its stars to promote it without contravening the rules during the ongoing actors’ strike.
