Africa-Press – Mauritius. Faced with a saturated labor market, there is today a situation of unemployment among young graduates. In order to help them find work more easily after their university education, Barclays Bank organized, from Tuesday 4 to Friday 7 September, a training camp in Port-Louis, in conjunction with CareerHub.

mu . This intensive training is part of the ReadytoWork program, which is one of the bank’s flagship CSR projects. This year, a new approach has been adopted aimed at creating an impact that is much more qualitative than quantitative.

Emphasis has been placed on developing the professional qualities and skills most sought after by companies. At the same time, the participants learned how to optimize the presentation of their CV and to identify the companies likely to be interested in their profile.

In order to offer a solid framework to these young people, the 2018 edition of ReadytoWork was extended over a period of four days with three-hour sessions, led by professionals from companies such as Orange Business Services, Indigo Group or ABC Motors.

Thus, there was a lot of talk about preparing for job interviews, but also about professional ethics, which is a key aspect in the world of work. In addition to these coaching sessions, 50 young people will also have the chance to follow a three-month internship at Barclays or within another partner company of the bank in various fields such as IT, finance and tourism, among others.

“This four-day training, organized for the benefit of young graduates aged 22 to 30, intends to give these Mauritians the opportunity not only to get a job, but also to better orient themselves in terms of a career plan.

The training was an opportunity for them to benefit from the advice of professionals who will facilitate their entry into the world of work,” explains Renuka Jacquette, Community Investment Manager at Barclays.

The young participants were, for their part, very grateful to the organizers for this initiative. “I now have knowledge that will certainly help me in my next job interview, as well as basic information that will be useful for me to integrate a company.

The ReadytoWork program represents a starting point for my professional career,” says Olivier Chavagnan, one of the young graduates who took part in the 2018 edition.

Launched by Barclays Bank Mauritius in 2015, the ReadytoWork program was set up with the aim of enabling young graduates to face the harsh realities of the job market.

Nowadays, having a diploma in no way guarantees a professional integration without obstacles. The program is aimed at young graduates as well as students at the end of their university cycle. To date, more than 5,000 young graduates have had the chance to arm themselves to face the real conditions of the labor market through this program.
