Africa-PressMauritius. Mrs Charlotte Anik Rachel Pierre has been appointed British High Commissioner to the Republic of Mauritius in succession to Mr Keith Allan who will be transferring to another Diplomatic Service appointment.

In that context, she paid a courtesy call, this morning, on the Attorney General, Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Mr Maneesh Gobin, at the seat of the Ministry in Port-Louis.

In a statement after the meeting, Minister Gobin highlighted the excellent collaboration between the Attorney General’s Office and the British High Commission.

He stated that he is looking forward to strengthening the relationship not only at institutional level but also at the regional level. He further expressed his wish to collaborate on several matters namely agriculture and capacity building.

As for the British High Commissioner, she said that she had a productive conversation with Minister Gobin during which they discussed about major challenges, safety and security-related issues with regards to the two countries, and reinforcement of collaborative ties in the coming years.

She added that she is looking forward to working closely with the Mauritian Government in the future. Mrs Charlotte Anik Rachel Pierre had previously worked at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office as Deputy Director, West Africa Department. She has served as Acting Director, Middle East and North Africa, at the Department for International Development.

She also occupied the following posts: Deputy Director, Syria, Iraq and Turkey; Head at the National Security Team; Chief of Staff, Middle East and North Africa, Afghanistan/ Pakistan Directorates; Head, Human Development Team in Ghana; Programme Manager in Jerusalem; and Head at the Sudan Unit.
