The Finance Minister, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, enunciated this evening, a series of budgetary measures aimed at enhancing the information and communication sector’s development and resilience.
The key measures are:
The setting up of a Digital Industries Academy by the Economic Development Board;
A total stipend of up to Rs 15 000 equally shared between HRDC and the private sector will be allocated to trainees;
Digital transformation initiatives and business advisory services will be eligible activities under the training fund of the Human Resources Development Council; and
The introduction of mobile and contactless payment systems, starting with the Registrar-General, NLTA and the Companies Division.
