Budget 2022-23 enunciates measures to increase employment opportunities

Africa-Press – Mauritius. Budget 2022-23 caters for key measures to boost employment opportunities in line with Government’s aim of increasing the purchasing power of all citizens, and supporting the economy on its recovery path.

The Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, highlighted these new Governmental measures, this evening, during his presentation of the Budget 2022-23.

He stressed that sectors such as renewable energy, financial services, ICT, manufacturing, tourism, and construction are all in need of more employees.

In order to bring thousands of young Mauritians and women into the labour force, Government will provide a monthly Prime à l’Emploi of Rs 15,000 for the first year of employment of 10,000 youths between 18 and 35 years and women up to 50 years.

The new Budget also provides for new employment opportunities for some 8,353 people in the public sector. Other measures to facilitate employment are:
