Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Minister of National Infrastructure and Community Development, Mr Mahendranuth Sharma Hurreeram, inaugurated, on Monday 27 November 2023, a mini soccer pitch in Camp Carol. The project, to the tune of Rs 7 million, was carried out under the Indian Grant Assistance for the implementation of Small Development Projects.
Dignitaries present on the occasion included the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Jean Christophe Stephan Toussaint and; the Member of Parliament, Mr Rameswar Doolub.
It is recalled that three Memoranda of Understanding were signed between the High Commission of the Republic of India, the Prime Minister’s Office and, the Ministry of National Infrastructure and Community Development for the implementation of community projects in Mauritius on 16 November 2022, 10 January 2023 and 19 June 2023.
Under these Agreements, a total amount of Rs 400 million was granted by the Republic of India, out of which Rs 97,4 million were delegated to the National Development Unit to be used for some 14 projects around the island, namely in Port Louis, Pamplemousses, Goodlands, Barlow, Mare d’Australia, Mare Tabac, Coromandel and Quatre Bornes.
