CEO of Saudi Fund for Development meets Prime Minister Jugnauth

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), Mr Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, met with the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, today, at the New Treasury Building, in Port Louis.

He was accompanied by the Ambassador of the Republic of Mauritius to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr Showkutally Soodhun. In a statement, the CEO highlighted that during the meeting, future development projects in Mauritius and ways to enhance and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were discussed.

Furthermore, Mr Abdulrahman Al-Marshad observed that the development relationship between Saudi Arabia and the Republic of Mauritius started more than 40 years ago and during that time the SFD had financed several infrastructural projects amounting to more than USD 200 million.

“We are very proud of this relationship and would like to support Mauritius in reaching the SDGs,” he pointed out.

The CEO also indicated that discussions pertained to ongoing projects such as the construction of the Cancer Hospital; the Social Housing Units project; and, the Rivière des Anguilles Dam project which will benefit from the SFD’s assistance next month.

“This shows our commitment to provide support to infrastructure projects in Mauritius,” he said. About the CEO of the SFD Mr Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad is the CEO of the SFD as from March 2021.

Since taking up the position, Mr Al-Marshad has led a comprehensive change programme, including the introduction of a Strategic Transformation Office to implement the SFD’s long-term strategic objectives such as the introduction of a new organisational structure, improvements to the working environment, the employment of female staff, and an acceleration of the transfer of the Export Programme (employees and services) to the Saudi Export-Import Bank (EXIM).

Before assuming the position of CEO, he was the General Manager of the Monitoring and Auditing Department and the General Manager of the Export Assurance Department representing the SFD at an international level.

The CEO has also served as a member of the Credit Committee in the Exports Programme, Vice Chairman of the Budget Committee, Member of the Administrative Committee, Vice Chairman of the Bid Examination Committee, and Chairman of the Electronic Systems Completion Committee.

Mr Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad is a member of the Board of Directors of the Saudi EXIM. He holds a Bachelor of Administrative Sciences in Accounting from King Saud University in Riyadh and holds professional qualifications in export credit and financing, internal auditing and financial analysis.
