Africa-Press – Mauritius. Youngsters who participated in the Youth Farming Project organised from June to December 2022, were awarded certificates, yesterday, during a ceremony held at the Côte d’Or Sports Complex.
The Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, Mr Stephan Toussaint, was present on the occasion. The Project is a joint initiative of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, FALCON Association, and Mitshui OSK Lines.
It comprised both theoretical and practical sessions and aimed at empowering the youth through capacity building in sustainable agriculture as well as familiarising them with new techniques of agriculture to sustain their livelihood.
The Youth Farming Project was carried out on a pilot basis in the south eastern part of Mauritius and saw the participation of some 128 youth from several institutions.
They included: the Mauritius Institute of Training and Development of Mahebourg and Trois Boutiques, Youth with Disabilities Empowerment Platform, and Mahebourg Espoirs.
