Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Chairperson of Mitsui OSK Lines, Mr Junichiro Ikeda, paid a courtesy call, today, on the Prime Minister, Mr Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, at the Treasury Building in Port Louis. He has also been appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Mauritius in Japan.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Jugnauth witnessed the handing over of the Letter of Commission by the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin, to Mr Junichiro Ikeda.
In a statement after the meeting, Mr Ikeda said that he had a very positive meeting with Prime Minister Jugnauth adding that the latter appreciated the efforts that both Mauritius and Japan made in the past to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries.
He highlighted that the Prime Minister has expressed the wish to see more business opportunities related to Japanese businesses. Mr Ikeda reaffirmed his commitment to work hard as Honorary Consul to enhance business opportunities between the two nations.
Mr Junichiro Ikeda has been the Chairman and Director of the company since 2021. Prior to this role, he served as President, and Chief Executive Officer.
He also served as the Senior Managing Executive Officer as well as the Executive Officer of Liner Division and Managing Executive Officer of General Affairs Division, Group Business Division, Kansai Area. He joined the company in April 1979.
