Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Cyber Quest competition final, an online activity that combined treasure hunt, escape room and detective games concepts, was held, yesterday, at Pointe Jerome Youth Training Centre.

This activity was organised by the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation in collaboration with Vertical World Ltd. This competition was designed to keep young people, aged between 13 to 18 years, busy during the lockdown period due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The quest, which consisted of four stages spanning for a period of six weeks, also aimed at encouraging young people to think critically and in a more structured way while at the same time allowing them to take decisions and develop their sense of rationality.

As such, some 60 participants had the opportunity to learn how to use cryptography, Google Maps, as well as other functional applications on their smartphones so as to allow them to progress through the different stages of the game.

Six of them were retained for the final phase. It is to be noted that a special application had previously been developed to act as a platform for the Cyber Quest competition. The three best participants will receive their prizes on 24 October 2020 at Bo Vallon Mall.
