Deputy Assistant Secretary of Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs calls on Minister Gobin

Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, Mr Tobin Bradley, paid a courtesy call, yesterday in Port Louis, on the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin.

In a statement, Mr Bradley highlighted that discussions with Minister Gobin focussed on the challenges faced by Mauritius and its partners from East Africa and the Western Indian Ocean concerning maritime security in the region.

He recalled that the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs supports countries in enhancing their capabilities to prevent crime and uphold security.

The State Department, he pointed out, is concerned with transnational criminals who are using the region to commit crimes such as drugs trafficking and trafficking in human. He thus reassured his organisation’s support to Mauritius in a bid to fight these scourges.

In addition, Mr Bradley dwelt on the Third Ministerial Conference on Maritime Security and Safety in the Western Indian Ocean, which is currently taking place at the InterContinental Hotel in Balaclava.
