Africa-Press – Mauritius. Dharam Gokhool and Robert Hungley were unanimously elected President and Vice-President of the Republic respectively during a flash session of the’ National Assembly yesterday afternoon. The motions to that effect were introduced by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam and seconded by deputy prime minister Paul Berenger. The elected president and vice president will take the oath at 10:30 today’ at the State House.

The prime minister brushed the career of Dharam Gokhool, who was born in October 1949 in Plaine-des-Roches in a sibling of 9 children. His father was a laborer and his mother a housewife. He was good at studying from a young age to the point where at Roches-Noires Government School, Abdool Raman Kasenally had insisted on his parents for the continuation of his secondary school education. His parents sacrificed themselves for’il to attend the secondary establishment of Mapou. He later began university studies in Britain.

Navin Ramgoolam also recalled his political career in the MMM and the PTr, of which he was the administrative secretary in 2003 and the general secretary between 2004 and 2005. He has also evolved as Minister of’Education and Minister of’Industry, Science and Research. « He served in different functions with a sense of loyalty, responsibility,’integrity and competence », s’est appesanti the Prime Minister.
In addition, the head of government moved a motion for the election of Robert Hungley as vice-president, who was born in February 1957 in Rose-Hill of’a family of eight children. He followed in his father’s footsteps in port activities and worked as a Freight Forwarder. He served as mayor of the municipality of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill.

Paul Berenger joined Prime Minister in congratulating Robert Hungley. « I’ai no doubt that’after having been throughout his life an excellent activist, that Robert Hungley will be an excellent vice-president of the Republic that will honor all the’ile Mauritius and especially all the activists and » activists, he said.

This second session of the’ National Assembly was marked by the swearing-in of’Attorney General, Gavin Glover, as a member of Parliament. He will sit in the chair between ministers Ashok Subron and Jyoti Jeetun at the’arrest of the prime minister and the deputy prime minister.

On a motion from the Prime Minister, the work of the’ National Assembly was adjourned to Tuesday at 11:30.

I’ a special thought for my mother without whom I would not be there, for the activists and citizens I’ rubbed shoulders in the various constituencies, and in particular those of Beau-Bassin/Rose-Hill.I will continue with even more vigor my social activities and I’ will adopt a policy of proximity especially with NGOs. J’ will make my contribution in the fight against drugs, including synthetic, which destroys the lives of our young people while the country needs’s.
