Africa-Press – Mauritius. Union Education Minister of India, Dharmendra Pradhan has conducted a bilateral meeting with the education ministers of Mauritius, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Ghana.

The aim of these meetings has been to increase and strengthen cooperation in the field of Education and Skilling between India and these countries. These bilateral meetings were conducted by Pradhan on November 24, 2022.

The Indian Education Minister met with his counterparts – Vice PM and Minister of Tertiary Education, Science & Technology, H. E. Mrs. Leela Devi Dookun-Luchoomun from Mauritius and Minister for Education and Vocational Training, H.

E. Ms. Lela Muhamed Mussa from Zanzibar, Tanzania Pradhan also met with the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science & Technology Development, H.

E. Mr. Raymore Machingura from Zimbabwe and Deputy Minister of Education, H. E. Mr. John Ntim Fordjour from Ghana. With H. E. Leela Davis from Mauritius, both the countries agreed towards providing assistance to build capacities in all areas of education and skill development.

In the next coming years, India will be working with Mauritius towards establishing it as a leading hub for knowledge in Africa and South east Asia. H.

E. Ms. Lela Muhamed Mussa from Zanzibar, Tanzania and Pradhan spoke about the development of the Indian Institute of Technology, IIT in Tanzania. Both the countries would be working towards making IIT Tanzania the hub for technical education in Africa.

For Zimbabwe, H. E. Mr. Raymore Machingura and Dharmendra Pradhan discussed on establishing a joint working group between the two countries. This joint working group would work closely in the field of education, skill and capacity building.

Dharmendra Pradhan, along with H. E. Mr. John Ntim Fordjour from Ghana, discussed the setting up of institutional mechanisms and a joint working group between the two countries. The aim behind this is to work on strengthening academic engagement from a pre-school level till research level.

The meeting with the Education Ministry took place while the four ministers were on their visit to India for the UNESCO India Africa Hackathon, which was held on November 23 to 24, 2022.
