Africa-Press – Mauritius. A promotion exercise for a cohort of some 222 primary school teachers who have been promoted to the post of Deputy Head Masters, was held this morning at the Dr.
Maurice Curé State College in Vacoas in presence of officials of the Senior Management of the Ministry of Education, Tertiary Education, Science and Technology.
In his address to the new Deputy Head Masters, the Permanent Secretary of the parent Ministry, Mr Youdhisteer Munbodh, congratulated them for their achievement, qualifying it as a matter of pride for themselves, the education sector and the country. He dwelt on the higher responsibilities and accountability that will be assigned to them as they take up their new post.
Furthermore, the Permanent Secretary underpinned the objective of the Ministry to foster an innovative education system, wherein learners can thrive in a conducive environment that caters for their wholesome and holistic development as well as lifelong learning to enable them to grow into responsible citizens.
Through our education system, we endeavour to develop a generation of adults instilled with the right principles and crucial soft skills such as adaptability, he stated.
Mr Youdhisteer Munbodh also pointed out that the prime role of the Deputy Head Master remains to drive their young students to success and to assist the Head Master in managing the school institution.
On that score, he called upon the newly promoted Deputy Head Masters to be a catalyst of change and act as a role model to spearhead positive progress for both their respective institutions and its learners, as to be a motivating force for the teaching and non-teaching staff.
