Africa-Press – Mauritius. Cameroon FA president Samuel Eto’o has hit back at reports that he has been barred from entering the Indomitable Lions’ dressing room or taking part in training sessions with the national team.
Speaking in an interview, the former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker expressed disbelief at the alleged restrictions placed on him, insisting his authority within the national team setup remains unquestionable.
“They tell me I’m not allowed to train or spend time with the Indomitable Lions. In which country? They tell me I’m not allowed to enter a dressing room, even though I’m the boss of the dressing room.
My signature alone is enough for anyone to enter anywhere! I don’t hate anyone who criticizes me. But I also understand that they have to live and every time they get paid, they have to write something.”
Eto’o, who has been at the helm of Cameroon’s football federation since 2021, has faced growing scrutiny over his leadership style, with critics accusing him of overstepping his role in team affairs. However, the two-time Africa Cup of Nations winner remains defiant, insisting that his actions are driven by a desire to see the national team succeed.
The Indomitable Lions are currently preparing for upcoming international fixtures, and the tension surrounding the FA president’s involvement adds another layer of intrigue to Cameroon’s camp ahead of crucial matches.
