Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Ambassador of the European Union (EU) for the Republic of Mauritius and the Republic of Seychelles, Mr Oskar Benedikt, called on the Minister of Gender Equality and Family Welfare, Mrs Kalpana Devi Koonjoo-Shah, today, in Port-Louis.

In a statement following the meeting, Mr Benedikt underlined the enduring partnership between the EU and Mauritius, emphasising the longstanding collaboration with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Welfare in the development of legislation and various projects.

He pointed out the significance of the annual high-level dialogue on Gender with the Minister, highlighting the constructive exchange of views where they assess ongoing work and discuss future collaboration possibilities.

The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Minister for prioritising the Government’s efforts against domestic violence, child abuse, and family welfare. He underscored the EU’s support for the Gender Equality Bill and reiterated their commitment to this important cause.
