Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Financial Services Fund (FSF), operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Financial Services and Good Governance, partnered with Metro Express Limited (MEL) for a sensitisation campaign aiming at promoting FinTech products and services in Mauritius.
As such, an official launching ceremony was organised, today, at the Rose Hill metro station, in the presence of the Chairperson of the FSF, Mrs Lakshmi Appadoo, and other personalities.
In a statement, Mrs Appadoo highlighted that the sensitisation campaign aims at enabling a greater number of Mauritians to be familiar with the FinTech sector as Mauritius, as well as the African continent, is entering the digital era.
This campaign, she pointed out, will also encourage members of the public to make a greater use of FinTech products and services, such as Cryptocurrency, Crowdfunding, Blockchain, and Peer-to-Peer Lending.
She indicated that MEL has been chosen as a partner for this sensitisation campaign due to the consequent number of commuters using the metro on a daily basis. Furthermore, short videos will also be broadcast on television at regular intervals so as to target the population at large.
Training courses are also available at the Financial Services Institute, in Ebène, so as to provide more insight to participants on the FinTech sector and its products.
For his part, a FinTech Expert from the Financial Services Institute, Mr Naushad Khadun, commended the FSF’s initiative so as to provide more details to the population regarding Cryptocurrency and Blockchain technology, among others. He also said that Cryptocurrency is becoming increasingly popular around the world.
