Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Financial Services Commission, Mauritius (FSC), in collaboration with the Economic Development Board (EDB) and the Corporate and Business Registration Department (CBRD), launched the FSC Single Window system, yesterday afternoon, at the FSC House in Ebène.
The Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and Development, Dr Renganaden Padayachy, the Minister of Financial Services and Good Governance, Mr Mahen Kumar Seeruttun, and other personalities were present on this occasion.
In his address, Minister Padayachy highlighted that the FSC Single Window system is in line with Government’s vision of establishing a customer-centric approach to serve financial institutions, corporates, High-Net-Worth Individuals and potential investors by providing all relevant information pertaining to licensing, occupational permits and business registration, amongst others.
He pointed out that this one stop shop will enable investors to carry out business in Mauritius more effectively. Dr Padayachy indicated that, henceforth, potential investors will be able to book a meeting online via the Single Window section on the FSC website, indicating the business purpose, and relevant licences and permits being applied for.
Thereafter, officers of the FSC Single Window system will confirm the meeting and contact the investor if any further information is required, he underlined.
Furthermore, the Finance Minister emphasised that Government has brought about a series of reforms during the past years so as to encourage foreign direct investment.
As for Minister Seeruttun, he observed that the FSC Single Window system will help to build credibility and promote trust in regulatory activity which are essential ingredients for a competitive and successful International Financial Centre.
By making regulatory service accessible at a click, he stated, we are generating positive user experience and upgrading to the ultimate form of Ease of Doing Business.
In addition, he indicated that the launch of the FSC Single Window system is an announcement to the world that Mauritius is constantly re-engineering its processes and regulatory environment so that it is easier to establish and conduct business in the country.
Government considers it as its responsibility to create the right environment for individuals and companies to access markets and to have the support that would be beneficial to them, he added.
It is recalled that the FSC Single Window system results from the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the FSC, the EDB and the CBRD on 21 July 2022.
The MoU lays down the foundation for collaboration amongst the aforesaid institutions to facilitate the conduct of business in the financial services sector. FSC Single Window system
The FSC Single Window system, hosted in the Flamboyant Lounge at the FSC House, will be a single point of contact to meet the demands of both local and international stakeholders of financial services sector under one roof.
The objective of the FSC Single Window system is to provide a unique platform to facilitate Ease of Doing Business in the Mauritius jurisdiction so as to, among others: reduce the hassle of booking multiple appointments; avoid submission of multiple and/or missing documents by potential investors; improve connectivity; and, reduce the clearance time to set up a business in Mauritius.
