Solidarité Pakistan Teledon, a two-day fund-raising initiative by the City Council of Port in collaboration with the Ministry of Local Government and Disaster Risk Management, other local authorities, and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), was launched, today, at the City Hall esplanade.

Underlining that Mauritius, as well, was exposed to, and experienced floods due to climate change impacts, Dr Husnoo called on the population to contribute to the flood relief cause and motivate others to do same.
The Vice-Prime Minister also appealed to economic operators to support the Pakistanis who were in dire need of help. He added that he believed that Pakistan could rely on the solidarity of the Mauritian nation.
For his part, the Lord Mayor of Port Louis informed that a donation box had been placed on the esplanade of the City Hall to enable the public to offer their monetary contribution.
“Donors can give their contribution at the esplanade until 16 00 hours today, while tomorrow, donations could be effected at the esplanade from 08 00 hours to 20 00 hours,” he said.
Moreover, Mr Mahfooz Moussa Cadersaib stated that those who could not come to the esplanade could donate via bank account. The details are on the website of the City Council (http://www. mccpl. mu/images/events/pakistanbanner. jpg). He urged donors to contribute generously to this humanitarian endeavour.
As for the High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Mauritius, he expressed his gratitude to the population of Mauritius for their generosity, and to the City Council of Port Louis for the endeavour to aid the victims of devastating flood in Pakistan.
Mr Muhammad Arshad Jan Pathan thanked the Government of Mauritius as well for its donation and for the provision of a dedicated bank account, the Prime Minister’s Flood relief fund 2022, to enable collection of funds for the flood relief activities in Pakistan.
