Government provides financial support to Anonym band to perform at Olympia

Africa-Press – Mauritius. Government has provided financial assistance to the Anonym band in view of their forthcoming live performance on 14 and 15 May 2022 in the first part of the concerts of Christophe Maé at Olympia, France.

In this context, cheques amounting to some Rs 200 000 were remitted to the band by the Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr Avinash Teeluck, this afternoon, in Port-Louis.

The band which was formed in October 2020, comprises of the following artists: Loïc Cupidon, Lionnel Cupidon, Yann Payet, Bernard Moonsamy, Samuel David, Fréderic Dorlin and Wilford Wong.

In a statement, Minister Teeluck applauded the band for the achievement as the local artists will be performing at a renowned international stage, like the Olympia. He pointed out that such achievement is a matter of great pride for the country in particular the Arts sector.

He expressed his best wishes to the artists for their forthcoming performance and made an appeal to them to share their expertise and knowledge with other Mauritian artists after their return to the country.

He also spoke of future collaboration with international artists as well as successful Mauritian artists in a bid to valorise the talents of local artists.

It is recalled that Christophe Maé, French pop singer, was on vacation in Mauritius and he was impressed by the performance of the group. He offered them to perform live with him in one of his concerts
