Graduates and prize winners of LCA Mauritius acclaimed

Africa-Press – Mauritius. A graduation and prize giving ceremony was held, yesterday, at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute (MGI) Auditorium, in Moka, to celebrate the achievements of 110 graduates and 25 prize winners of the London College of Accountancy – LCA (Mauritius).

The Managing Director of LCA Mauritius and Chairman of Anglia Ruskin University, London, Dr Ravi Gill; the Chief Executive of the Financial Services Commission (FSC), Mr Dhanesswurnath Thakoor; the Head of ACCA Mauritius, Mrs Madhavi Ramdin-Clark; Mrs Lucinda Robert-Holmes, the Adviser to the Minister of Labour, Human Resource Development and Training; and other personalities were present.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister, his Adviser, Mrs Robert-Holmes lauded the endeavours of all the students upon the fruitful completion of their ACCA course.

She commended the hard work of the graduates and prize winners for their outstanding performance at the National Level. She stressed on the pivotal role played by the LCA into securing the future of their students. Mrs Robert-Holmes acknowledged the stellar contribution of teachers, trainers, mentors into paving a successful career path for the students.

She pointed out that training, learning and skill development are the backbone of human resource development and that the Ministry is sparing no effort to promote skills development, re-skilling and up-skilling programmes.

The Minister is unwaveringly dedicated to invest all the resources necessary to guarantee the development of a highly skilled and proficient workforce in Mauritius, she underpinned.

The Government has also pledged to ensure access to education for all segments of the population, irrespective of their financial means, she added. Moreover, she stated that the FSC has acted as a catalyst in boosting the Mauritian Financial Services sector.

Mrs Robert-Holmes asserted that over the past 15 years, the FSC has significantly evolved to become a key driver of our economy by generating high-value jobs and making substantial contributions to Government revenues and foreign exchange earnings.

According to her, the Financial Services sector is experiencing a surge in employment opportunities, with approximately 3,000 vacancies awaiting qualified candidates.

She further elaborated that the Ministry in collaboration with the HRDC is working to provide training to some 995 participants from Financial Services’ operators and Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions, ensuring that they adhere to the requirements, including those related to Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism guidelines.

LCA is an international educational institution providing undergraduate and post-graduate degrees in business, management, accounting, law and marketing.

Its local branch, established in 2008, is the leading institution offering ACCA courses in Mauritius. The institution became publicly acclaimed and was even awarded the Platinum Level Approved Learning Partner status by ACCA in 2013.
