Africa-Press – Mauritius. French clean energy solutions provider GreenYellow announced on Tuesday it has closed an MUR-350-million (USD 7.9m/EUR 7.2m) financing deal with the Mauritius Commercial Bank Ltd for a new photovoltaic (PV) project in the island nation.
The PV power plant will be located in Arsenal, around 10 km (6.2 miles) north of the capital Port Louis. GreenYellow said it plans to commission the solar farm this year.
Once up and running, the renewable energy facility should be capable of generating more than 20 GWh of clean energy per year, enough to meet the consumption demand of over 4,500 Mauritian homes. Overall, the French company has installed more than 100 MWp of solar power in the whole Indian Ocean region, it noted.
