Africa-Press – Mauritius. The High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Mauritius, Mrs Rezina Ahmed, paid a farewell call on the Attorney General, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Mr Maneesh Gobin, yesterday, at the seat of the Ministry in Port Louis.
Mrs Ahmed served as High Commissioner in Mauritius for more than five years, after she presented her credentials on 18 July 2018. Minister Maneesh Gobin expressed his appreciation to the High Commissioner for having relentlessly worked to strengthen bilateral and people to people ties.
He also stressed the need to facilitate movement of business persons and of tourists between the two countries in view of enhancing economic connections of mutual benefits.
Minister Gobin highlighted the role of the Mauritius International Financial Centre as an investment hub for the African continent and the opportunities it presents to Bangladeshi international firms and investors.
For her part, High Commissioner Ahmed indicated that a delegation of prominent business persons from Bangladesh was recently in Mauritius on an investment and trade prospection tour.
They have shown interest to explore possibilities of establishing operations in Mauritius in the pharmaceutical industry and in other manufacturing activities, she said. Both parties have agreed to work towards developing stronger economic exchanges in investments and trade.
